HERMANIS PAUKŠS “THIS IS ALL WE'VE GOT!”
Premiere, 29th of May 2019 in Birmingham
The show was created within the framework of the Latvian cultural Centre project – Community Art (Latvian cultural Centre). It has received support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia, the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia in Great Britain and the Latvian cultural Centre. The show consists of the Latvian playwright Hermanis Paukšs three plays, “Waiting for Pavļikor or Greetings to Beckett,” “Who ripped off the bear's leg?” and “Greetings speech.” They form one joint staging with an idealogy etched in the show's own title – “This is all we’ve got”. And as one character says on the show, “Today, we have a compelling desire to play theater,” three healing situations help play it out. Especially for this show, music was created by Janis Rainis (Latvia), lighting was staged by Eriks Otto, choreography by Viesturs Berzins and Laura Rutka, while the costumes were created by Gunta Larmane.
